TREATMENT

It is a legal requirement that veterinary permission is obtained prior to treating your animal due to the veterinary Act of 1966

In order that your horse benefits fully from the treatment it is essential that 'E-Motion' works alongside conventional veterinary care, regular visits from a blacksmith, dental technician and saddle fitter.

What to expect on the day:

A detailed case history will be taken of your horse's medical history, past and current work, daily routine and management, dates of last tack, teeth, worming and shoeing, any previous therapy/modalities used, feeding regium and any medication administered.

A static and dynamic assessment of your horse including gait analysis will be undertaken to ensure that an effective session can take place, it helps if your horse is clean and dry, and that there is a flat hard (non slippy) surface to stand on. If upon examination your horse is found to be lame or if there are any concerns with its health on the day, the treatment will have to be pusponed. Please note you will still be charge for the consulation/examination and any additional milage charge incured.

The treatment involves an assessment of the whole animal, focusing on the musculoskeletal system. Any asymmetry of the Atlas, Spine and Pelvis will be treated using a Chiropractic technique known as McTimoney. Areas of muscle tension and muscle wastage are felt for and investigated and appropriate massage, passive and active stretches will be utilised. The therapies that  are used are complementary and work extremely well together. The proportion of each type of treatment used on your horse will depend totally on the nature of the problem and will be unique for each animal seen. A session can last anything between 40 minutes to an hour depending on the nature of the problem.

Following the session specific aftercare advice will be discussed, and an aftercare report will be provided via email. Follow up treatments will also be discussed. It is essential that the after care advice is adheared to, in order to make the treatment as effective as possible.

Your horse will need time to allow its body to assimilate the changes that have taken place as a result of the treatment. Healing is a process that takes time, and changes in your horse’s body will begin to take place immediately but can take 24-48 hours to show following a session. These physiological changes can create a range of mild reactions which will be discussed with you.
